Cardiology Pet Care in Orange County
While ongoing care with your primary vet is vital to the lifelong health of your pet, there are certain situations that may require specialized diagnostics and care.
Here at Veterinary Medical And Surgical Group–OC (VMSG-OC), we are able to refer patients to an on-site board-certified cardiologist who is experienced in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular (heart and vessel) diseases in pets.
This includes such disorders as congestive heart failure, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, degenerative valve disease, systemic hypertension, arrhythmias, congenital heart disease, and cardiac tumors.
CVCA Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologist
Dr. Brett Boorstin is a CVCA board-certified cardiologist with advanced training in treating conditions affecting the heart and circulatory systems of pets. He has a special interest in minimally invasive cardiac procedures and educating clients on caring for the heart health of their companions.
Evaluation of Heart Conditions
During your visit, the cardiologist will perform a physical examination of your cat or dog. Based on what is found during this evaluation, they will then offer recommendations for additional veterinary diagnostics.
The cardiologist will also take the time to review your animal’s health history and current medications. Depending on your pet's condition, recommended diagnostic testing may include:
- Echocardiography
- Electrocardiography
- Radiography (Digital X-Rays)
- Blood Pressure Measurement
